Zyrcon
2016
Zyrcon is a piece centered around a wearable and an AR application. The garment—a raincoat-kimono hybrid—references the layered formations of the Earth’s crust. On the back, an AR pattern can be scanned with an app developed for the project, displaying a 3D model, an interpretation of the artist based on scientific illustrations of a 4.4-billion-year-old zircon crystal, the oldest material ever discovered on Earth.
The project integrates physical design with digital augmentation, turning the wearable into an entry point for exploring geological time. By scanning the garment, users access a visualization of Earth's ancient history, creating a direct interaction between body, technology, deep time and the planet's most fundamental elements.
